teaser tuesday

14 Jul

Miz B over at Should Be Reading does this lovely little gem every Tuesday.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I finished Beat the Reaper last night so my teaser today is from my new read: Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta.

Teaser: (Page 261)

It takes me a minute to find my voice. “If I look at the photo and whoever it is looks exactly like me, that only means he can be my father and if he’s the boy who’s been missing for eighteen years, it means that my father is dead and I’ve never thought that. Ever.

I’m excited for this book, but the reviews I’ve seen are that it’s slow starting and it takes about 100-150 pages to get going. I’m only on page 30 so I’ll definitely stick with it, but it’s hard to jump into a book that takes some work to get into, especially after a book like Beat the Reaper that grabs you from the very beginning. Review of that one coming soon!

Good teaser. I’ve read books that took around 100 pages to get going and they ended up on the Favorites list!

I’ve heard rave reviews about this one (and it won the Printz), so I hope you eventually get to enjoy it.

I hate when books start out soon but sometimes you get surprised and the book turns out fabulous.
    Here is my teaser
